GFA bans PAC Academy and Port City FC from home venues over crowd trouble

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely banned Division One League sides PAC Academy and Port City Football Club from using their approved home venues, following violent incidents recorded at their matches over the weekend.

The decision takes immediate effect and comes after the Council reviewed preliminary reports from the PAC Academy versus FC Ashgold 04 fixture and Port City FC’s clash with True Democracy.

Acting under Article 14(2) of the Division One League Regulations, the GFA said the move was necessary to prevent a recurrence of violence and to safeguard players, match officials, and spectators. The regulation empowers the Association to close any league centre where safety cannot be guaranteed.

As a result, both clubs will no longer host matches at their approved venues until further notice. The GFA’s Competitions Department will now designate alternative venues for their home fixtures, taking into account logistical factors such as travel distance for visiting teams.

Meanwhile, the GFA has launched a full investigation into the incidents, working in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and other relevant stakeholders to establish the facts and ensure accountability.

In a strong statement, the Football Association condemned all forms of violence in Ghana football and urged club owners, officials, supporters, and all stakeholders to uphold the values of fair play and sportsmanship.

The GFA also expressed sympathy to those affected by the disturbances and assured the football public that the matters are being treated with utmost seriousness, adding that decisive action will be taken once investigations are concluded.
