The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved a comprehensive Medical Regulation framework ahead of the 2025/26 football season, aimed at improving player welfare across all tiers of the game.
The newly adopted regulation outlines key pillars designed to elevate clinical care, promote education, and foster inclusivity within football medicine.
Among the core objectives are the improvement of clinical care and governance, the creation of a robust nationwide football medicine community, and the promotion of impactful research and educational programs.
The framework also emphasizes equity and diversity, seeking to ensure that all stakeholders from grassroots to elite clubs have equal access to medical knowledge and resources.
The GFA’s Medical Committee, chaired by Dr. (Med) Abena Yeboaa Tannor, will be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the guidelines throughout the season.
This move forms part of the GFA’s broader commitment to global best practices in sports medicine and its strategic focus on prioritizing the health and safety of footballers in Ghana.
