GFA acts over poor attendance

Stadium attendances are falling at an alarming rate at the various league centers in Ghana and the GFA, the Professional League Board and the Ghana League Club Associations say they will move to address that.   As a first step the a stake holders forum took place at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Tuesday with club officials, members of the media and football fans in attendance.   There were times when the forum resembled a complaint platform with the GFA president Kwesi Nyantekyie setting the tone with a claim that numbers in the stadium were falling because the increasingly powerful Ghanaian media were spending too much time discussion European football and devoting too many pages to them.   Nyantekyie told KickOffGhana.com that as a first step the GFA will look into reducing gate fees at the various League centres and try to make the venues safer by fast tracking the prosecution of fans who misbehave at the grounds.   In the medium term, the GFA says it will look at kick off times and ensure it does not clash with the English Premier League.   “It is dangerous to tie your kick off time to the English Premier League and from next season we will take that into consideration. The Premier League is the most powerful brand in the world and everyone is running away from it so we must act quickly.”
