Former Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng, has thrown his support behind injury-ridden Ghana midfielder Salis Samed, backing the him to succeed in England.
Salis has struggled over the last 24 months in getting regular game time under his belt, for his clubs.
The Ghanaian midfielder was surpluss to requirement at Lens, leading to his move to join Championship outfit Sunderland.
However, the loan move has hardly gone right, with injuries and managerial decisions seeing the midfielder further fall behind the pecking order in Sunderland’s ranks.
Salis was an unused substitute on Tuesday as Sunderland took a huge step in returning to the Premier League with a 3-2 aggregate beating of Coventry.
“He has been very unfortunate with injuries but he is a player with attributes that I think are suited for the English game. If the loan can be extended to next season, then we can expect more from Samed,” Boateng told 3Sports after the Championship playoff tie.
Sunderland will face Sheffield United in the final of the playoffs for a place in the Premier League.
