Former Vice President of the GFA, George Afriyie has explained the reason behind Black Galaxies abysmal performance at 2022 CHAN in Algeria.
Ghana exited the competition in the quarterfinals after a shocking 2-0 defeat to Niger.
The home-based national team have had several failed attempts to clinch the CHAN tournament since its inception in 2009.
Speaking in recent interview, George Afriyie provided his assessment of the country’s shortcomings at the international stage.
“We don’t follow consistency but in football, consistency plays a role. Some of the players who we used to qualify the team to Algeria were dropped, so we are not consistent”
“We don’t have a solid program where we make sure that we follow it through that is the problem, it is not about ranking”
“Ranking can be done because we’ve seen countries ranked outside the world in top 20 coming into a major competition and excel, we see it all the time. So it’s not necessarily about the ranking”
