Genk winger Joseph Paintsil says he was not worried when he was left of Ghana squad to face Brazil and Nicaragua in international friendlies.
The 24-year-old was shockingly dropped from the senior national team of Ghana by head coach Otto Addo for the September pre-World Cup friendlies.
Paintsil was in fine form at KRC Genk, having scored three goals and provided one assist in seven appearances then.
“For those who are fighting for me being a good player, that I was not part of the team, they are also saying it because of their point of view, what they have seen, heard and watched,” he said on ‘Star Connect’.
“They are the ones who are going to justify not me [because] I’m just a body doing everything for myself to concentrate on football.
“With me not being part of the Brazil and Nicaragua games, I was never worried. I had a call [from Otto Addo] and I was told I wasn’t part of the team so it’s not something that I am worried about. Any moment I will be called to represent my nation I will always be available to take part in the team at every tournament.”
Meanwhile, Paintsil has been named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Black Stars make a return to the tournament after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia and have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
