Outgoing Ghana U17 coach Frimpong Manso has backed his replacement, Prosper Narteh Ogum, to succeed with the Black Starlets ahead of next month’s WAFU B U17 Championship in Nigeria.
Manso, who spent seven months in charge, said the technical structure already in place will make the transition seamless.
“I had two assistants and a goalkeepers’ trainer. They are all there. So I think it will not change anything,” he told Joy Sports.
“Ogum is also a very experienced coach. And for me, I don’t think it will affect anything at all.”
The former Black Stars defender had been leading a nationwide scouting drive before stepping down to focus on Bibiani GoldStars, who will compete in the CAF Champions League next month.
Ogum becomes the third coach to lead the U17s in the last 12 months, following Laryea Kingston and Manso, as Ghana seeks to qualify for its first U17 Africa Cup of Nations since 2017.
