Legon Cities kicked off the second round of the Ghana Premier League with a 1-0 win over Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday at University of Ghana Stadium.
The first half was an entertaining goalless draw, but the Royals came back strong after recess, with Fredrick Akatuk scoring the winning goal in the 52nd minute.
Despite dominating the game, Bibiani Gold Stars couldn’t capitalize on their chances.
This defeat dropped saw them relinquish their top spot to Asante Kotoko who defeated Karela United while Legon Cities climbed to 16th position with 17 points.
Looking ahead, Legon Cities will face Medeama SC in Tarkwa, while Bibiani Gold Stars will host champions FC Samartex in their next match.
