Goalkeeper Frederick Asare has officially left Asante Kotoko following the expiration of his contract, ending a two-year spell with the club.
The 25-year-old opted against a renewal after failing to reach a financial agreement with the club’s Interim Management Committee.
Asare lost his starting spot to Mohammed Camara during the 2024/25 season and made just 15 league appearances, keeping seven clean sheets.
Signed from Accra Lions in 2022, Asare had a bright start and earned a Black Stars call-up in 2023, but his reduced game time cost him a spot in the national setup.
Sources say he’s exploring offers from East Africa and Europe as a free agent. His exit adds to Kotoko’s ongoing squad reshuffle ahead of their 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
