Francis Amuzu available for Black Stars selection after completing nationality switch – Report

Ghana-born Belgium youth international Francis Amuzu is now available for Ghana selection after completing his nationality switch from Belgium to the country of his birth.

According to a report by 3Sports, the world football governing body FIFA has granted him the nationality switch despite being capped by the Red Devils at U-19 and U-21 levels.

He also received senior Belgium call-ups for their Nation League games in 2021 but the Anderlecht attacker chose to represent the country of his parents at the senior level.

Amuzu, in a letter to FIFA justifying his decision to make the switch, says it feels like an obligation to represent the country of his parents.

“The motivation behind this decision is that I deem it an obligation to play for my mother country since my parents are Ghanaian,” the statement said, as quoted by 3Sports.

The 23-year-old has been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association for a period of time now and will now be available for Ghana selection in the March international window.

Francis Amuzu, who was born in Accra and moved to Belgium at a tender age, has three goals and two assists in the 2022/23 Belgium Pro League.
