Immediate-past Togo Coach Tom Saintfiet is among three shortlisted coaches for the top coaching job of the Nigeria Super Eagles, the NFF has confirmed.
The ambitious young man was among 20 coaches who applied for the job and hs been shortlisted among the three.
“Former Ethiopian coach, Tom Sainfiet, Super Eagles’ caretaker coach, Salisu Yusuf, and Frenchman Paul Le Guen, who once coached Cameroon are the three shortlisted coaches for the coaching job of the Super Eagles,” the NFF revealed.
On Friday at the Glass House, the NFF Technical and Development Committee pored over more than 20 applications before cutting the list to three.
Tom Saintfiet departed Togo after only six months in office following the Togolese Federation’s inability to pay him.
Saintfiet who has coaching experience in Ethiopia, Namibia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and South Africa was adjudged the best coach in Namibia in 2008.
He also won the CECAFA Club Cup with Young Africans.
He is also the only coach to have guided Namibia to move to their best ranking in the FIFA Rankings, 30th and 2008.
The chairman of the Technical and Development Committee, Chris Green, told
thenff.com : “We set a criteria with which we evaluated the nearly two dozen applications and then agreed on the three persons that we shortlisted.
“The Committee will meet on Monday, 18th July 2016 to interview the shortlisted candidates and immediately name the next Super Eagles’ Head Coach,” he said.
