Former Hearts of Oak coach, Martin Koopman, has come forward with allegations of interference by the club’s board during his tenure.
The 67-year-old Dutch trainer, who was recently released by the Ghanaian giants due to a challenging start to the 2023–24 season, disclosed details of the alleged interference in an interview with GhanaSportsPage.com.
Koopman expressed frustration over what he perceived as unwarranted directives from the board, particularly regarding the selection of players.
Koopman expressed dismay, stating, “There are seven players they told me not to use in the competition. It was a day before our opening game.”
He further revealed that the list of restricted players initially included three names but later expanded to seven—Annan, Korsah, Esso, Albert Eonde, Salifu, Seidu, and Attah. The board reportedly conveyed a lack of belief in these players and their potential contribution to the team in the competition.
These allegations shed light on the challenges and disagreements that led to Koopman’s departure from Hearts of Oak, raising questions about the dynamics between coaching staff and the board within the football club.
