Former Ghana youth star Nasiru Mohammed joins Finnish club Ekenäs IF

Former captain of Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, Nasiru Mohammed, has embarked on a new chapter in his club career with a transfer from Swedish third-tier side Trollhättan to Finnish top-tier outfit Ekenäs IF.

The 29-year-old forward’s move signifies a significant step up in his football journey, departing Sweden after the expiration of his contract with Trollhättan.

The 29-year-old has already hit the ground running with his new club in Finland, featuring in 4 cup games and scored one goal.

Mohammed’s European club career kicked off in Sweden when he joined BK Häcken from Ghanaian third-tier side Rainbow FC in 2012, following his stint as captain of the Black Starlets in 2011.

After spending seven years with BK Häcken, Mohammed ventured to Levski Sofia in Bulgaria before returning to Sweden, where he had spells with Norrby IF and Trollhättan, all competing in the lower tiers of Swedish football.

On the international stage, Mohammed showcased his leadership skills by captaining Ghana’s U-17 team in 2011 and later the U-20 side in 2013.
