A group of former Ghanaian football legends paid a courtesy visit to Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on Tuesday to acknowledge his support for the recent Democracy Cup celebrations.
The delegation was led by former Hearts of Oak captain Amankwa Mireku.
During the meeting, the former players expressed gratitude for Speaker Bagbin’s continued efforts to recognise and promote Ghana’s football heritage.
The Speaker emphasised the growing economic impact of football, noting that the sport has evolved beyond entertainment into a significant business sector.
He encouraged initiatives that provide opportunities for retired players and highlighted the importance of keeping former stars involved in football development.
Speaker Bagbin urged the delegation to stay active in supporting events like the Democracy Cup.
The former players reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing young talent and preserving the legacy of Ghanaian football.
The meeting also served as a platform to discuss ways to further integrate football legends into national sports programs.
