Former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko striker Ohene Nana Saarah Mensah has reportedly passed away, sending waves of sadness through Ghana’s football community.
Saarah is fondly remembered for his heroics in the early 1990s, especially during the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. On September 2, 1990, he scored the decisive goal in Kumasi as Ghana defeated Nigeria 1–0 in a fierce qualifier. He followed that up with another match-winning strike in Lomé against Togo, sealing Ghana’s qualification push.
