A top-level FIFA coaching course aimed at strengthening youth football development in Ghana is set to take place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram from November 3 to 7, 2025.
The intensive five-day program – the FIFA Elite Youth Coaches Course – will bring together national youth team coaches from the U15 to U20 levels, alongside trainers from the GFA’s Elite Academy centres at Bolgatanga SHS, Prempeh College, and Achimota School.
Delivered by FIFA Coach Educator Callum Irving, the course will feature sessions led by football conditioning specialist Tobias Powalla, FIFA High Performance expert Cayl Coetsee, and the GFA’s FIFA Talent Coach, Stuart McLaren.
Together, they will guide participants through advanced coaching methodologies, tactical innovations, and player development strategies.
Stuart McLaren highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating: “The GFA has been clear in its goal of bringing power to the youth, and successful National Youth Teams are an essential part of that commitment.
“By bringing together all NYT coaches, plus those working with our Elite Academy Players, we will not only enhance their capacity to improve Ghana’s high-performance environment but also ensure alignment and continuity through the youth pathway.”
The course will blend theoretical lessons with on-field practical work, focusing on tactical awareness, physical conditioning, and holistic player development.
The goal is to align Ghana’s youth football structure with international best practices, ensuring a stronger pipeline of talent for future FIFA U17 and U20 World Cups.
