Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirms FIFA has greenlit the association’s proposal to extend the presidential term from two to three terms.
During his appearance on TV3’s Sports Station, Henry Asante Twum disclosed that FIFA approved two key GFA proposals: extending the presidential term from two to three terms and elevating a female representative to the position of 2nd Vice President.
However, Henry added that FIFA advised against other proposed expansions, such as increasing the size of the Executive Council, emphasizing a need for a more structured approach to such broader governance changes.
Following FIFA’s approval, the GFA is set to place the presidential term amendment on the agenda for the next Congress scheduled for August 12, 2025, where members will vote on its adoption adhering to these procedures.
The proposed amendment could potentially impact current GFA President Kurt Okraku, who has already served one term.
