Understanding the FIFA Club World Cup
What is the FIFA Club World Cup?
The FIFA Club World Cup is an annual competition which sees the champions of all six of FIFA’s confederations come together to compete against each other to become the champions of the world.
Teams and Format
Competing are the winners of each FIFA federation’s premier continental competition, as well as a designated team from the host nation. The federations are CAF (Africa), AFC (Asia), UEFA (Europe), CONCACAF (North & Central America and the Caribbean), OFC (Oceania) and CONMEBOL (South America).
The team competing from each confederation are:
CAF – Al Ahly
AFC – Al-Ittihad (Host) & Urawa Red Diamonds
UEFA – Manchester City
CONCACAF – Club León
OFC – Auckland City
CONMEBOL – Fluminense
The format is different to that of most competitions in that, depending on the ranking of their federation, teams enter the tournament at different stages.
On the whole, it follows a straight knockout format which ultimately culminates in a final where the champions will be crowned.

Researching Teams and Players
Researching teams and players is especially important when betting on the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, due to the unknown nature of many of the teams. It is not unusual for European favourites to be overturned by lesser-known teams, so it is crucial to research the other sides.
You can find a club’s league form and probably more importantly their form in knockout matches, which could give you an indication of how likely they are to be able to pull off a victory in this high-stakes knockout format.
Understanding Odds and Markets
The 2023 Club World Cup has many betting markets which you would find in any other football competition. These include match betting, which involves betting on the result of a single match, over/under betting which involves betting on the amount of goals to be scored in a single match, and outright betting which involves betting on the winner of the competition.
