Fenerbahçe defender Alexander Djiku eyed by Lazio and Sevilla to sort defensive woes

Black Stars and Fenerbahçe defender Alexander Djiku is high up the list of defensive options of Lazio and Sevilla, to help solve the defensive frailties of the Italian and Spanish outfits.

Djiku played 25 times for Fenerbahçe throughout the 38 game season, starting 23 of the games and leading his side to a second placed finish in the Turkish league, attracting interest with his stupendous and commanding displays.

Lazio, meanwhile, let in 39 goals in the 2023/24 Serie A season, while Sevilla conceded a staggering 54 goals in the Spanish La Liga, leaving both teams in pursuit of the 29-year-old Ghanaian center back to bolster their backline.

Djiku, who joined Fenerbahçe from Strasbourg prior to the commencement of the 2023/24 season, has the opportunity to pass up working under newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho – if both teams find an agreement.

Lazio, however, are ready to pay up to €10m to secure the signing of the Ghanaian and add him to the ranks of the team.

An immediate decision is, however, not expected as parties involved are trying to work out a realistic agreement.
