FC Schalke 04 is interested in signing Patric Pfeiffer on loan

FC Schalke 04 has set its sights on acquiring the services of Patric Pfeiffer, the German-born Ghanaian defender currently experiencing a turbulent period at FC Augsburg.

Despite initial expectations that he would emerge as the defensive linchpin for FC Augsburg after his summer move from Darmstadt, Pfeiffer finds himself on the fringes under coach Jess Thorup. Sources reveal that dissatisfaction looms large, prompting Pfeiffer to contemplate his future.

The revelation came on Monday during the Sky program Transfer Update, where it was disclosed that the partnership between Pfeiffer and the Fuggerstadt club has failed to materialize as anticipated.

With rumors swirling about a potential loan move in the upcoming winter transfer window, FC Schalke 04 has emerged as a keen suitor. The Royal Blues, having conceded 33 goals in the current season, are eager to bolster their defensive ranks with the promising talent.

Pfeiffer’s trajectory from SV Darmstadt 98 to Augsburg has been nothing short of remarkable. A significant investment of around 250,000 euros by Darmstadt brought him from Hamburger SV, and he quickly evolved into one of the standout central defenders in the second division between 2019 and 2023.

Patric Pfeiffer’s contract with Augsburg runs until 2027.
