FC Samartex 1996 triumphed over Aduana Stars Monday to extend their lead at the Ghana Premier League summit to a commanding five-points.
The Sameraboi lads went into the game looking to keep hold of the top spot following their dominance in the first round of the season. FC Samartex scored two quick fire goals in the first half to claim the points at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.
Former Skyy FC forward Baba Hamadu Musa opened the scoring in the 8th minute after latching on to a well taken free kick by Adu Siaw for his seventh goal of the campaign.
Emmanuel Keyekeh doubled the lead with an absolute belter in the 25th minute after receiving a pass from Baba Musa on the edge of the box.
After the break, Sampson Cobbinah reduced the deficit in the 75th minute but that was enough to rescue a point for the two-time champions as FC Samartex held on to win at Dormaa.
The win leaves FC Samartex atop the Premier League standings with 35 points – 5 points ahead of Aduana FC and Nsoatreman FC who are 2nd and 3rd in the table.
