The home side kicked off the new Ligue 1 campaign by recording a highly creditable 1-0 win at Rennes. The win was a solid start to the new campaign, as Lorient had failed to win any of their final five matches in Ligue 1 last season.

One facet of their game that Lyon does need to improve is their away record, as OL has won just two of their last six away matches in the French top-flight.
