Telstar to Draw Again as FC Eindhoven Struggles Continue

With the Eredivisie pausing for the World Cup, attention in the Netherlands turns to the Eerste Divisie as FC Eindhoven and Telstar meeting in the league with a huge points difference between the two already as Telstar aim to put together a decent run of form for the first time this season.

It’s been a struggle for the away side for most of the season. Telstar are currently sitting with just four wins from 15 games so far in the division, drawing seven of those games too which almost equals to a record of 50% of draws in their season so far. The club have also lost four times, conceding 20 goals in the process.

Telstar’s defensive record is far from the worst in the league right now and in fact, only second-placed PEC Zwolle and eighth-placed Willem II have let in fewer goals in the entire league season so far.

The concern for the club, however, comes on the goalscoring front as they have netted just 15 times from the 15 games, and only the bottom two sides, Jong FC Utrecht and Helmond Sport, have scored fewer.

This poor goalscoring run and decent defensive form has seen them rack up a few clean sheets, but at the same time, struggle to get that many wins on the board too.

In fact, Telstar are heading into this game off the back of four draws in a row in the league, two of which have seen them keep a clean sheet against Jong AZ Alkmaar and Den Haag. They also got a 2-2 draw with Dordrecht and a point away to NAC in a 1-1 draw.

As for Eindhoven, they are in fourth after recently struggling to find some consistency. Since beating Willem II in the KNVB Cup back in mid-October, the club have gone on to win just one of their next four games in the league, beating only last-placed Jong Utrecht.

The club lost to Heracles and PEC Zwolle that saw them let in a total of eight goals, drawing with Jong PSV Eindhoven in a local derby three weeks ago.

Eindhoven’s form has also seen them move to seven points away from Heracles at the top of the table, while they are only ahead of Almere in fifth by goals difference.

Forebet predicts a close game here, given the form of the two sides. Forebet predicts a draw and under 2.5 goals.
