Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati are on the verge of signing Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Gidi from Slovakian outfit MSK Žilina in a deal worth around $2 million.
The 21-year-old is expected to join under the league’s U22 initiative, allowing Cincinnati to strengthen their midfield without sacrificing a senior roster spot.
His arrival comes at a crucial time following the departure of key players from the squad.
Gidi, who is a product of Zilina Africa, has made over 100 appearances for Žilina and brings valuable European experience to the MLS side.
Cincinnati, who have struggled for stability in midfield, see him as a vital addition to address that weakness.
The talented Ghanaian has attracted interest from several clubs, with Turkish side Trabzonspor reportedly close to signing him in February 2025 before the deal fell through.
