FC Andorra will face off with FC Cartagena in a promotion playoff six-point match on Sunday in Spain’s Segunda. Andorra go into the fixture sixth after 17 matches with 27 points. Cartagena are fifth in the standings with 28 points. A win for either team could spur them onto promotion.
Both clubs are chasing the Segunda leader, Deportivo Alaves. Alaves are first with 34 points. Andorra and Cartagena are both within touching distance of the first-place team, but a loss on Sunday would dent one of the team’s chances of winning the Segunda.

Andorra are in brilliant form ahead of the match on Sunday at home. The Tricolours took 12 points from their last six games in the Segunda. Andorra scored 10 goals and conceded just twice across the last six matches.
The Tricolours, who are owned by former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, won four of their last five La Liga 2 games, including the last two fixtures.
Andorra picked up 15 points from eight home games in the Segunda. Their last home game against Lugo ended in a 4-0 victory. Andorra’s defence was brilliant at home in the opening eight games with just four goals conceded. The attack scored 13 times.
Cartagena took eight points from the last six games in the division. Goals were difficult to come by, as Cartagena scored just six times while conceding six goals. Cartagena are coming off a 2-1 win against Eibar in another promotion six-point affair.
The Zebras are playing well on the road this season. They took 11 points from eight away matches and posted a +1-goal difference.
Sunday’s game will be the first match-up between the two clubs. Since Pique took over ownership of FC Andorra, they have been on an upward trajectory. Last season, Andorra won promotion from the third tier of Spanish football. The Tricolours are in search of a second straight promotion.
Turkish striker Sinan Bakis leads FC Andorra in scoring with seven Segunda goals. Bakis is tied for second in the Segunda in scoring. He has accounted for 35% of FC Andorra’s scoring.
FC Cartagena are led in goals by Albanian striker Armando Sadiku. Sadiku also has seven goals this season in the Segunda, and the striker has accounted for 32% of FC Cartagena’s scoring.
Andorra and Cartagena are both in search of the promotion playoffs, and it should lead to a tight fixture. The game should finish 1-1, with neither side getting the upper hand. The Segunda has had 13.3% of matches end in 1-1 draws this season. It is the league’s third-most common score.
