Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has named Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha as his greatest African player of all time.
Despite the likes of Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, and George Weah being household names, who were amongst the list Issahaku chose from in a quickfire session, the Leicester City winger’s admiration for Okocha’s skill and creativity on the pitch set him apart.
Issahaku ranked Drogba above Sadio Mane, Eto’o above George Weah, Mohamed Salah above Riyad Mahrez, and Okocha above Yaya Toure.
His fondness for Okocha’s playing style likely stems from the Nigerian’s exceptional dribbling skills, vision, and ability to create scoring opportunities.
As Issahaku continues to develop his own skills and make a name for himself in English football, his appreciation for African football legends like Okocha serves as inspiration.
Despite missing most of his maiden season in the Premier League due to an ACL injury in November 2024, Issahaku’s talent and dedication suggest a bright future ahead.
