Fares Ghedjemis wanted by Monaco as Frosinone hold out for €20m

Monaco have increased their offer for Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis as they attempt to beat Besiktas, Celtic and Rangers to the signing of the Algeria international.

According to Football Italia, Monaco are stepping up their efforts to complete a deal for the 23-year-old, whose performances have attracted strong interest during the summer transfer window. Frosinone are understood to be close to securing a fee of up to €20m for the player.

Ghedjemis will turn 24 next month and has become one of the most sought-after players in the current market. Frosinone have remained determined to receive a substantial return for his departure, particularly after the winger played an important part in their promotion to Serie A.

The club rejected offers worth €8m for Ghedjemis in January. His estimated value has since more than doubled following a productive campaign in Italy’s second tier.

Ghedjemis scored 15 goals and provided three assists in 37 Serie B appearances last season. Those figures have helped intensify competition for his signature and encouraged Frosinone to maintain their demands rather than accept an early offer.

Celtic and Rangers have both made approaches for the player, but Frosinone have rejected several proposals from the two Scottish clubs. The main contest now appears to be between Monaco and Besiktas, with Vincenzo Italiano leading the Turkish club’s efforts.

Belgian transfer-market expert Santi Aouna reports that Besiktas are offering Ghedjemis more favourable personal terms. Despite that advantage, the player is said to prefer a move to Monaco.

Frosinone are content to wait while the interested clubs compete with one another. The Italian club believe continued pressure from Monaco and Besiktas could drive the transfer fee even higher, with the asking price now approaching €20m.

Monaco’s renewed offer therefore represents the latest development in a summer-long battle for Ghedjemis, while Celtic and Rangers remain among the clubs that have shown an interest. The final decision will depend on whether Monaco can meet Frosinone’s valuation and match or improve the personal conditions available to the winger at Besiktas.

Frosinone’s stance reflects the rapid rise in Ghedjemis’ value since January. Having turned down an €8m proposal earlier in the year, they now have the opportunity to secure more than twice that amount for a player whose goals and assists helped deliver promotion to Italy’s top division.
