Fantasy Premier League – FPL Picks, Best Players and More for Gameweek 8

348

Following the postponement of Matchday 7, Fantasy Premier League returns this weekend. However, Matchday 8 comprises just seven fixtures – meaning six teams are out of action.

Brighton vs. Crystal Palace, Chelsea vs. Liverpool and Man Utd vs. Leeds have been postponed. Therefore, you need to avoid players from those clubs. Is it time to use your Wildcard chip?

Before we check out the best FPL players for Gameweek 8, let’s take a look at the schedule.

  • Aston Villa vs. Southampton
  • Nottm Forest vs. Fulham
  • Wolves vs. Man City
  • Newcastle vs. Bournemouth
  • Tottenham vs. Leicester
  • Brentford vs. Arsenal
  • Everton vs. West Ham

There are two clashes on Friday, September 16, with Aston Villa hosting Southampton and Fulham visiting Nottm Forest. That means we have a 18:30 deadline on Friday night.

On Saturday, Man City travel to Wolves, Newcastle host Bournemouth, while Tottenham entertain last-place Leicester. On Sunday, Brentford host Arsenal, while West Ham visit Everton.

Here are the best players for FPL Gameweek 8.

Goalkeepers

With popular FPL goalkeepers such as Robert Sanchez (Brighton), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) and Alisson (Liverpool) out of action this weekend, Ederson (Man City) and Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) are bound to attract plenty of attention.

Believe it or not, Nick Pope (Newcastle) is the highest-scoring goalkeeper in FPL this season. The Englishman has kept three clean sheets in six games and has also made more saves than anyone else.

Defenders

Joao Cancelo (Man City) and Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) find themselves atop the defender leaderboard in FPL. Both players have a favourable fixture this weekend, offering potential returns in attack and defence.

If you’re looking for a differential defender for Gameweek 8 and beyond, Nathan Collins (Wolves), Eric Dier (Tottenham) and Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth) have all racked up 23+ points this term.

Midfielders

The five highest-scoring midfielders in the game are out of action this weekend. Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) and Dejan Kulusevski (Tottenham) are arguably the next best options.

Nottm Forest, Newcastle and Tottenham all have favourable fixtures in Gameweek 8. Accordingly, Jesse Lingard (Nottm Forest), Miguel Almiron (Newcastle) and Son Heung-min (Tottenham) are all worth considering.

Forwards

If you don’t have Erling Haaland (Man City) in your FPL team – get him in! The Norwegian has netted 12 goals in eight games across all competitions this season, including ten in six Premier League outings.

In terms of Gameweek 8, Ivan Toney (Brentford), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) and Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal) should be at the forefront of your mind when it comes to selecting your forwards.
