GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo says the extension of the GFA president’s tenure from two terms to three will prove beneficial in the long run despite public criticism.
Speaking on Joy FM, Harrison Addo explained that the amendment, passed at Congress on August 12, 2025, was to ensure consistency with global practice.
“It’s only with time that we’ll see the benefits,” he said. “The EXCO is made of 12 members; 11 of them have three terms, but the president alone had two. FIFA has its EXCO, CAF the same; everyone has three terms. We need to align.”
His remarks come after 114 out of 123 delegates voted in favour of the change, with Asante Kotoko abstaining while Hearts of Oak backed the motion.
