Egyptian football powerhouse Zamalek SC has reportedly set its sights on Ghana U-20 defender Dacosta Antwi, with the club prepared to offer Ghanaian Premier League side, Young Apostles FC $200,000 to secure his signature, kickoffghana.com can exclusively report.

The interest comes on the heels of Antwi’s standout performances at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, where he caught the attention of Zamalek’s scouts despite Ghana’s heartbreaking quarterfinal exit.

Kickoffghana understands that talks between the club and Antwi’s representatives are said to be in the initial stages, signaling the start of what could be a significant move for the promising defender.

The TotalEnergies CAF U-20 AFCON, hosted in Egypt, provided a stage for Africa’s brightest young talents to shine, and Dacosta Antwi was among those who left a lasting impression. Playing as a key defender for Ghana’s Black Satellites, Antwi showcased his composure, tactical awareness, and physicality throughout the tournament.

He was named in CAF’s Best XI of the Group stage as Ghana topped Group C with seven points, drawing 1-1 against DR Congo and securing 1-0 victories over defending champions Senegal and Central African Republic.

However, Ghana’s campaign ended in the quarterfinals against hosts Egypt on May 12, 2025, at the Suez Canal Stadium.

The Black Satellites staged a dramatic comeback from a 2-0 deficit to force a 2-2 draw in regulation time, only to fall 5-4 in a penalty shootout. Antwi’s attempt in the shootout was notably saved by Egypt’s substitute goalkeeper Ahmed Menshawi, a moment that proved decisive in Ghana’s elimination and their failure to qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Despite this setback, Antwi’s overall performances, including his defensive solidity has made him one of the most sort after commodities.
