EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal begin talks with West Ham over midfielder Mohammed Kudus

Arsenal have initiated talks with West Ham over a potential transfer for Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus, kickoffghana.com understands.

The 24-year-old has expressed a desire to play in European football’s top competitions, which is prompting him to leave West Ham despite his hefty £80m release clause.

Before the season ended, Kudus was subject to interest in the Middle East, where a number of Saudi Arabian sides queued up for the Ghanaian’s signature.

However, Kudus opted against moving outside of Europe with Arsenal now firmly at the fore in the race to land the Ghanaian.

Arsenal hope to negotiate a deal in the region of €55-60m, significantly lower than Kudus’ release clause.

Kudus is reportedly high on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist of attacking targets, and the Gunners believe he would be a valuable addition to their squad.

Arsenal, who have finished as runners up in the Premier League in the last two seasons and finished last season’s Champions League as semi-finalists, will be eager to seal a deal for Kudus to boost their chances of winning silverware for the first time since 2020.
