Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that he is yet to hang his boots amid speculations his playing days are over.
Gyan is currently without a club after leaving Legon Cities where he made just five appearances in the 2020/21 season and last played for the Black Stars at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
The 26-year-old is the all-time leading goalscorer of Ghana, with 51 goals and is also the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup with six goals.
“I will have to access myself first whether I’m ready for that challenge before accepting to play for the Black Stars,” Gyan said in an interview.
“I have not decided on for now that but if I access myself and am ready, I will return to the national team and play again.”
Gyan has represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
With 6 goals, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup. Gyan has also represented Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics and in seven Africa Cup of Nations, helping them finish in third-place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
