Ex-Kotoko defender narrates how he was given juju to hide inside his stockings in a game against Great Olympics and suffered an injury during the match [Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV]

The former defender has confessed in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah that he was handed black magic to hide inside his stockings during a league game against Great Olympics.

Former Ghana international and Asante Kotoko defender James Kwasi Appiah has narrated how he was given juju to hide in his stockings ahead of his debut game for the Porcupine Warriors.

The Sunyani-born, who became the first Ghanaian coach to qualify the West African nation for the FIFA World Cup, has revealed that he was introduced to juju when he joined Kotoko.

“I was always reading Psalm 92 when I was playing at Prestia Mine Stars. However, when I came to Kotoko I was introduced to juju. Ahead of my debut game for the club, some people approached me and said I can’t play Kotoko with my naked eyes. So they gave me something to hide in my stockings. Unfortunately, I suffered an injury on the leg that I hid the juju inside,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah.

Appiah went ahead to spend 10 seasons at Kotoko, establishing himself as a household name for the Porcupine Warriors.

“Sometimes it became a directive from the club that we should all do it,” he added.
