Ex-Black Stars midfielder Nii Odartey Lamptey fears AFCON bonus cut can affect team

Ex-Black Stars striker Nii Odartey Lamptey says the Sports Ministry should be wary of the retrospective effects of slashing the winning bonus of the Black Stars from US$15,000 to US$ 5,000.

The Black Stars will go into next year’s Africa Cup of Nations competition at the back of having their hefty winning bonus cut down to U$ 5,000.

But the former Aston Villa fears the latest proposal can have adverse effect on the team.

“These are players that are uneven. If the ministry feels that some of the players are well to do and decide to slash the money they should be wary of what could follow,” Lamptey said

“I feel the communication could have been done better, these are players that we could engage them and let them understand our current situation.

“I am sure if we communicate well with them we could reach an amicable situation, if not it could spell doom.
