Ex-Black Stars captain Appiah's rallying call ahead of tricky Sudan game

Stephen Appiah is confident the Black Stars will rise to the challenge of beating Sudan in a 2014 World Cup qualifier but urges fans to keep their support intact.

The Black Stars are in the final phase of their preparations for the tricky tie at the Baba Yara stadium.

The team recorded a resounding 5-0 win over second-tier side Asokwa Deportivo in a  low-profile friendly on Thursday to serve as real boost for the team ahead of the game.

The Juventus legend, who captained the team to two successive World Cups expects the fans to be the number twelve man on the pitch to win the game for the West African giants.

“Our fans should learn from what fans do in the English Premier League. Those fans can win games for clubs,” Appiah told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“So for all those going to the stadium on Sunday, they should keep cheering the Black Stars on.

“If the game is getting tough and the fans start booing, things will go wrong for us. So since we need these points from this match, the fans have to keep cheering until the end of the match.”

The Black Stars trail leaders Zambia by three points.
