Athletic Club manager Ernesto Valverde has hailed the importance of Ghana forward Inaki Williams to the club’s brilliant start to the season.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of their League game against Sevilla this weekend, the coach singled out Inaki for praise.
There has been calls by some critics over the years for the striker to improve his productivity in front of goal, However, Valverde insists the Black Stars forward’s true value lies in his fear factor.
“He is a player that the fans want to be much more effective. But the one who has to be asked about the importance of Iñaki Williams is the coach of the opposing team. They will tell you ‘please, don’t let him play ‘ not only because he can score a goal, but not because of everything he generates around him. And the opponents fear him”.
Inaki has scored three goals in seven games in the Spanish top flight this season.
The Basque club are currently third on the La Liga table with 16 points- three points adrift league leaders Barcelona and Real Madrid.
