England-born forward Tyrique George, who has Ghanaian and Nigerian heritage, is on the verge of completing a permanent move from Chelsea to Fulham in a deal worth £22 million plus a sell-on clause.
The 19-year-old winger is keen on regular first-team football this season and is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Cottagers before the transfer window closes on Monday night. He will undergo his medical before finalizing the move.
George rose through the ranks at Chelsea after joining the club at under-8 level. Last season under Enzo Maresca, he made 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals, and featured in every game of the club’s Conference League campaign except the final against Real Betis.
Born in England but eligible to represent Ghana or Nigeria at international level, George has so far played for England up to under-19 level and was recently named in the Under-21 squad for the upcoming international break.
The youngster, who made his first senior appearance of the new season last weekend against Crystal Palace, could soon establish himself in the Premier League with Fulham; while his international future remains open to Ghana.
