Energie Cottbus’ Ghana international midfielder Charles Takyi has targeted a spot in the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup should the Black Stars qualify.
Ghana are close to securing qualification to the final stages of the African qualifiers but the 28-year-old has not make an appearances for the West African giants yet since 2012.
Guided by his new World Cup ambitions and desires to recapture his form, Takyi has returned to Cottbus, a club he left in 2011 for financial reasons.
Should the Black Stars qualify for the 2014 finals in Brazil, the Black Stars would be making their third straight appearance at the FIFA World and the former St Pauli influential attacking midfielder wants to be part of the Ghana squad.
“The better things runs in Cottbus, the greater the chance for me to return to the Ghana squad and appearing at the World Cup,” he said.
Takyi was a member of the Ghana squad that reached the quarter-final of the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
