Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs began their X1 Energy Drink Division One League Super Cup campaign in emphatic fashion by beating former Premier League side Real Tamale United 4-1 at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
The victory puts Ebusua Dwarfs at the top of Group A after the second fixture of the fifth edition of the competition. They controlled the match for long periods and secured all three points with a commanding display.
Captain Nathaniel Appiah gave the Cape Coast side the lead before Sylvester Doku added a second goal to put Ebusua Dwarfs firmly in control at 2-0.
Real Tamale United briefly raised hopes of a comeback when Ibrahim Mohammed Bashiru pulled a goal back. The response, however, failed to shift the balance of the contest.
Ebusua Dwarfs quickly restored their two-goal advantage through Osei Kelvin Bright, who made it 3-1. Emmanuel Osei then completed the scoring to seal a convincing win for his side.
Appiah was named Man of the Match after combining his leadership at the back with the opening goal. His contribution helped Ebusua Dwarfs establish a strong platform at the start of their Group A campaign.
Real Tamale United must now regroup for their remaining fixtures after suffering a heavy opening defeat. Ebusua Dwarfs, meanwhile, have made an authoritative start to the competition.
The fifth edition of the X1 Division One League Super Cup is being staged at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi. The tournament is giving the participating clubs competitive preparation ahead of the new season.
Group B will provide the next set of fixtures, with FC AshantiGold 04 scheduled to face Nsuopon Fidelity. Tamale City FC will also play Semper Fi FC.
