Dr. Tony Aubynn chairs Domestic Leagues Committee

Former Executive Council Member Dr. Tony Aubynn has been appointed as Chairman of the newly created Domestic Leagues Committee. This Committee which replaces the Premier League Committee, the Division One League Board and the Women’s Premier League Committee will be responsible for the management of the above listed competitions.

Dr. Tony Aubynn, a former Minerals Commission Chief Executive Officer, chaired the Black Galaxies Management Committee whiles on the Executive Council and currently works as Board Chairman of Premier League Champions Medeama SC.

Chairman of Aduana FC George Gyawu has been appointed as 1st Vice Chairman, while Hilary Boaten serves as 2nd Vice Chairperson of the Committee.

The Committee Members are as follows: 

BELOW ARE THE DUTIES/ROLES OF THE COMMITTEE

a)Work with the competitions department for the effective management of the GPL, WPL, DOL.

b) Support the Planning and execution of elite and second tier domestic leagues [i.e. Premier League, Women’s Premier League and Division One League] in conjunction with entities tasked with the core roles of executing these competitions.

c) Liaise with relevant Committees to ensure timely procurement, availability and deployment of critical resources required for the successful organization of the competitions

d) Support executing bodies in liaising with GFA Marketing Department to develop Marketing plans, prepare branding elements and ensure delivery of any relevant commitments to sponsors/partners

e) Track and monitor adherence to Activity Schedules for delivering the competitions. This would include Launch Activities as well as promotional campaigns.

f) Support executing bodies in their liaising with GFA Communications Department to ensure effective communication in relation to the competitions.

g) Support executing bodies in their liaising with Security Committee of the GFA to ensure that adequate security measures are put in place for the organization of the competitions.

h) Track, monitor and report on Security incidents to GFA Executive Council

i) Ensure that executing entities deliver on their respective mandates. Flag any key and urgent

j) Prepare and present periodic reports to GFA Executive Council covering all aspects of Committee’s operations. Reports should make recommendations for continuous improvement in executing competitions.

k) Ensure the leagues are very visible on all media platforms.

l) Develop rules and regulations for the league

m) Ensure fair competition and adherence to established standards

n) Establish procedure to resolve disputes between clubs, players and other stakeholders

o) Engage in marketing and promotional activities to promote the league and attract fans, sponsors and the media.

p) Ensure the integrity of the game i.e. prevention of match fixing, doping etc.

q) Develop and implement strategies to vigorously promote and advertise the leagues to be the best in Africa.

r) Collate data from the leagues.

s) Ensure all clubs have effective and efficient websites, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, Wikipedia pages and TikTok accounts.
