Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh has endorsed the growing calls for Abdul Karim Zito to be made the permanent head coach of Asante Kotoko, following his impressive interim run.
Zito has breathed new life into the Porcupine Warriors since stepping in for Prosper Narteh Ogum, guiding them to the FA Cup final and keeping them firmly in the title race with just three matches remaining in the 2024/25 season.
Kotoko currently sit just two points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
“The issue isn’t just what management wants, but what Zito wants to do. Has anyone asked him (Zito) if he wants the position on a permanent basis? If so, he is demonstrating that he is capable of leading the team,” Dr. Baah-Nuakoh said on Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
“Nothing stops them (Kotoko) from appointing him, but as I previously stated, it is up to the coach and the management. The management team might desire him, but Zito might have other intentions, so we’ll see what happens.
“It is up to the two sides to strike something. If Zito is not tied up with another plan and wants to coach Kotoko, nothing prevents them from appointing him,” the chairman of GFA’s Club Licensing Board added.
