‘Don’t bring them back’ — Nyaho-Tamakloe warns Black Stars over returning players

Former GFA chairman Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has urged Otto Addo and his technical team to avoid recalling footballers who previously turned down the chance to represent Ghana.

His comments come after news that several Europe-based players are now open to joining the Black Stars following the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Names such as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah have surfaced as potential additions ahead of next year’s global tournament.

“Those who initially turned down invitations should not be invited at all, but those who have never been invited must be given the opportunity to come and play,” the Hearts of Oak board member told Graphic Sports.

He maintained that commitment to the national cause should remain a priority as Ghana prepares for another World Cup campaign.

The Black Stars are set to discover their group-stage opponents on Friday, November 5.

After a disappointing group-stage elimination in Qatar 2022, the team is aiming for a stronger showing at the expanded tournament.

The 2026 World Cup will be staged across the USA, Canada, and Mexico next summer.
