Memphis Depay could bounce to another La Liga club this winter. The Barça striker would be targeted by Jorge Sampaoli’s Sevilla FC. The Dutchman has reportedly asked to be released from his contract.
According to information collected by Files, Sevilla FC has set its sights on Memphis Depay, to strengthen its attack. Jorge Sampaoli would have validated the idea of his coming. The Andalusian club would like to rely on him to boost their attacking sector, which is experiencing difficulties. Rafa Mir, Youssef En-Nesyri and Kasper Dolberg are indeed experiencing problems in terms of efficiency and the club remains on 4 games without a win, in all competitions.
Roma, Liverpool and Newcastle also on the way
28-year-old Memphis Depay does not appear in the small papers of his coach, Xavi. Injured in the thigh, the Dutchman took part in only 3 games this season, and scored 1 goal. His contract is supposed to end in June and the player would have asked to benefit from an exit voucher, free of charge, during the January transfer window. The operation could allow the Catalan club to save his salary, while he is faced with a still delicate financial situation. The player could for his part find a team allowing him to find a starting place.
The native of Moordrecht should also not keep a great memory of his adventure at Barça, where the departure of Ronald Koeman put him in difficulty. Memphis Depay had made salary efforts to join Catalonia in 2021, only to be pushed out a year later. Since signing, the Netherlands international (81 caps, 42 goals) has scored 14 goals and provided 2 assists in 41 games in all competitions.
In recent months, Memphis Depay has also been linked to AS Roma, Liverpool, or Newcastle. The player should be spoiled for choice this winter.
