Ghanaian international Abbey Agbodzie has expressed interest in switching nationalities to play for Moldova.
The former Dreams FC player explained that he would be willing to represent Moldova if given the chance, citing limited opportunities with the Ghana national team.
In an interview with Accra-based Mothers FM, Agbodzie said: “I think I will go if Moldova comes because I feel like I don’t have the chance to play for the Black Stars currently.
“Some players who play for the national team are lucky enough to come from the local league. If you are not playing in the local league, you have to play in a very tough league in Europe, and Moldova is not part of the top leagues.
“I don’t have the chance to play for the Black Stars. If another team comes and gives me the platform, why not. I am also putting my interest first but not because I don’t want to play for the Black Stars,” said the 24-year-old defender.
Agbodzie currently plays for Moldovan Super League side FC Balti, having joined them in 2023 from Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC.
