The national U-20 captain has already played at the Nations Cup but is still more famous because of his father Abedi Ayew Pele, a 3-time African player of the year.
But it is something Ayew is keen to change as he prepares to lead the national U-20 side out on Sunday for Ghana’s first appearance at this level since 2003.
_quote “In the past, I had the problem of always being referred to as Abedi’s son, but now people know me not just as Abedi Pele’s son, they know I am a good footballer too,” he told kickoffGhana.com.
“These days when I go places people talk about my father, but they also recognize that I am growing in football and this tournament will be a chance to de-emphasize that and try to win something with my country.”
Despite the desire to win, Ayew insists winning will not be everything here in Kigali.
“The priority is to qualify for the 2010 World Cup; it is the most important thing for us.
