The son of Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele has led the line remarkably well for Ghana and Egypt and feels the Black Satellite have a responsibility for the continent now.
“It’s a shame that on African soil, our brothers had to go early but now it increases the pressure on us to prove why African football has to be taken seriously now,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
No African team has won the tournament to date but Ghana and Nigeria have both played in the Final twice.
Dede believes with the right attitude, the Satellites can ensure African representation again on October 9 but says the attitude must be one game after the other.
“We have to face Korea first and hope that we will start much better than we did against a very good South Africa team. We didn’t play our best football that day but we have to take the positives from that game into the Korea match,” he opined. “We showed character, we showed strength, we showed that no matter how difficult the circumstances are we won’t give up without a fight.”
