The 19-year-old came on as a substitute for Medeama SC’s Kamaradini Mamudu after the break and quickly made his presence felt.
Though naturally a midfielder, Yerenkyi adapted seamlessly to the defensive role, showcasing excellent positional awareness and composure under pressure.
His timely interceptions and ability to track Nigerian attackers helped steady Ghana’s backline and frustrate their rhythm in the second half.
Beyond his defensive duties, Yerenkyi’s precise passing played a vital role in Ghana’s build-up play, contributing to stretches of dominance in the second half.
His influence was instrumental in the lead-up to Ghana’s only goal, a 70th-minute strike from Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Yerenkyi currently plies his trade with FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish Super Liga, where he has scored two goals and provided two assists in 17 appearances this season.
Since making the move to Europe in 2024 from the renowned Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, he has been widely tipped as one of the next big stars in European football.
