Former Hearts of Oak defender Dan Quaye has voiced his support for the inclusion of Mubarak Wakaso in the Black Stars, believing that Wakaso’s skills in delivering long balls could aid Inaki Williams in overcoming his goal-scoring struggles for the national team.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Quaye emphasized the need to reintroduce experienced players to the Black Stars and pinpointed the challenges faced by Inaki Williams in finding the back of the net since switching his allegiance.
Quaye stated, “It’s about time we reinstate some of the experienced players in the Black Stars. Inaki Williams has struggled to score for the national team since switching allegiance because of our midfielders.”
He further explained, “I believe Mubarak Wakaso, who excels at delivering long balls to attackers, can help him resolve goal-scoring issues with the Black Stars. Wakaso consistently ensures that he feeds strikers with the right passes, and he possesses the experience for executing long balls, much like Sulley Muntari. We are the Brazil of Africa, and we must respect that.”
Despite Inaki Williams’ challenges with the Black Stars, the Athletic Bilbao forward has had a strong start to the 2023/24 Spanish La Liga season, with four goals and two assists in nine games.
