Dan Quaye cautions GFA not to interfere with the work of Chris Hughton

Hearts of Oak legend Dan Quaye has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) not to interfere with the work of newly appointed Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.

The former Ghana international also cautioned Ghanaians to be patient with the 64 year old trainer as he builds his squad.

Hughton comes in as replacement for Otto Addo who vacated the position following Ghana’s group stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager had been the technical advisor of Ghana since February 2022.

“We shouldn’t rush the coach because he is now going to build his team, we shouldn’t put him under unnecessary pressure so he can make the right call up. Ghana is blessed with talents but the only problem we have is interference” Dan Quaye said in an interview with Bryt FM.

“So if he has been given the job, he should be given the opportunity to work freely without any interference. I don’t have any problem with Hughton’s appointment but if his job is interfered he cannot succeed. I believe he has what it takes to do well if he is not influenced” he said.
