Crystal Palace’s hopes of having a fully fit Eddie Nketiah have been dashed after the English-born Ghanaian forward suffered another hamstring injury during their 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool.
Nketiah, who was making his first start since recovering from a similar injury, was forced off at half-time after feeling discomfort in the same muscle.
“We gave Jean-Philippe Mateta a rest. But unfortunately, we had to bring him on at half-time because Eddie Nketiah injured his hamstring again,” Glasner explained after the match.
“Eddie’s injury is really tough, especially for him. It’s the next one after he missed the whole of pre-season and the start of the season. Hopefully, it is not too serious.”
The injury is a major blow to Palace, as Nketiah has struggled with fitness issues since joining the club.
He has been gradually reintroduced into the squad, featuring in eight matches and scoring twice. The club will be hoping that scans reveal only minor damage, as they prepare for a busy Premier League schedule.
